Extra Curricular Activities

Comprehensive Fitness Club

The comprehensive fitness club’s purpose is to educate and mentor cadets on all aspects of fitness and wellness to include physical, mental, social, and emotional wellness. Cadets receive guidance and coaching on nutrition, weight training, cardiovascular, CrossFit, flexibility, and various aspects of comprehensive fitness. Participants will also receive training and nutrition guidance from certified personal trainers.

Yearbook Staff

Gainesville cadets practice their photography skills while capturing photos of campus events from athletic competitions to parades and community involvement opportunities. They also learn how to use publishing software. Cadets then work with a faculty advisor to compile, edit, and publish an annual Gainesville yearbook called the Home of Discipline.

Chorus & Piano

The Gainesville Chorus & Piano participates in area festivals throughout the year. Anyone with or without music capabilities are welcome to join. The Chorus & Piano groups receive invitations to perform at various community events throughout the school year. Our chorus members also audition to sing the National Anthem at sporting events held here at Gainesville International School.

Community Service

GIS Community Service opportunities, coordinated by our Commandant’s Office, allows cadets to volunteer for a broad range of service organizations that make a positive impact in the community. Many of our cadets continue donating their time to community service projects during school furloughs.

Honor Council

GIS Honor Council is a peer-elected organization responsible for promoting the Academy’s Honor Code: “A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal nor tolerate those who do.”

International Club

The International Club meets monthly to study the locations, customs, traditions, and foods of other countries. The club is open to all students as we celebrate the diverse geographic population of our Corps of Cadets.

Peer Tutoring Association

Peer tutors are cadets who assist as academic leaders and tutors in the dormitory. They are selected for these important roles based on scholarship and character.
